My First Official Self-Created Juice Recipe!

My First Official Self-Created Juice Recipe!

Okay, so I got a juicer for Christmas from my honey and have been researching recipes online to try out and trying them but this afternoon, I just couldn’t find what I wanted so… I experimented and it turned out pretty darned good! Here’s what I started with. 1 handful Kale 1 handful Spinach 2 cups red grapes (1 bunch) 2 oranges 3 carrots And here’s what I ended up with! Lots of yummy juice! Even my sister-in-law was surprised that it tasted good after I told her what was in it! I MADE her try it… It looked like sludge but who cares?? It tasted great!! This is all that was left over… really not that much and it’s gonna make excellent compost for next spring! What’s your favourite juicing...

Working Through My Grief

Every year since Kaelen was born, I’ve had a hard time with my work for the month or so before his birthday. Late September and October is my busiest time of year for photos because everyone LOVES fall photos (including yours truly). The year he was born, I literally finished all my fall photos up mere days before he was born and now each year since, I struggle to get through them all and sit at my computer for days and days editing them all for clients. I know I need to do it but the focus just isn’t there for me. I really need to figure something out to get through them but I don’t know what that something could be… I could outsource them and make NO money on the sessions whatsoever… I could make my clients wait forever… but...

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day is coming soon and a good friend asked me to write about my sweet Kaelen for her Mommy newsletter. He came silently into this world at 3:24pm on November 11th. There were no little baby cries to fill our hearts, no squinty baby eyes to make us smile, only tears and pain, wishing we could close our eyes and make this nightmare, our nightmare, go away.   Sadly, that...

Swiss Chard Surprise

Swiss Chard Surprise

Okay… so before I get to my Swiss Chard Surprise, here’s my very clean ol’ fridge… I, of course, forgot to take a before picture but ┬áthis is what it looks like after and it’s sooo pretty! Before this, it was JAMMED FULL of everything because my honey likes his sauces… LOTS of them! Every time we go to a grocery store, he finds another new sauce to try! And even though I LOVE that he loves to cook and try new sauces, I DON’T love cramming my healthy food that I buy for the kids into crevices on each shelf just to fit real food in our fridge…   So I fixed our little sauce problem… by buying him his own “sauce” mini-fridge!! Yay for mini-fridges!! And amazingly enough, I fit all his sauces AND...
